Preventing tooth decay

Brush your teeth at least twice a day, preferably after each meal and especially before going to bed.

Eat nutritious and balanced meals and limit carbohydrates like candy, pretzels, and chips, all of which can remain on the tooth surface. If you eat sticky foods, brush your teeth afterwards!

And don’t forget to floss! Starting with about 18 inches of floss, wind most of it around your middle fingers, leaving an inch or two of floss to work with. Holding the floss tautly between your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently up-and-down between your teeth.

Update your medical history

For the ladies…

Choose a medium coral or light red lipstick. These colors make your teeth look whiter. Lighter-colored lipsticks, on the other hand, tend to bring out the yellow in teeth.

Stay fresh

To check your breath, lick your palm and smell it while it’s still wet. If you smell something, it’s time for a sugar-free breath mint. Searching for a good mouthwash? Make sure it’s alcohol-free. Most mouthwashes have too much alcohol, which can dry out the tissues in your mouth, making them more susceptible to bacteria.

Maintaining your dental tools.

Rinse your toothbrush with water after brushing, store it in an upright position (if possible), and allow it to air dry until using it again. Don’t routinely cover toothbrushes or store them in closed containers, which can encourage the growth of bacteria.
