Diabetic Patients

The cornerstone of Great Boca Smiles is our understanding of the relationship between oral health and overall health.

To take this a step further for our patients with diabetes, Dr. Markowitz understands the physiology of diabetes mellitus, the various medical drug treatments, blood glucose testing and complications.

He monitors our diabetic patients’ oral health, and associated gingival and periodontal disease (diabetics are more likely to contract periodontal disease than are non-diabetics) and treats symptoms such as as inflammation, bone loss and tooth detachment while monitoring and helping manage overall health, in relation to the teeth and gums to help prevent complications associated with diabetes.
