Because this proven technology now exists that let’s you straighten your teeth-invisibly. Invisalign makes it easy to straighten your teeth without bands, brackets, or wires.Does Invisalign really work?
Yes. In orthodontic and dental practices worldwide, it has been effective at straightening teeth. Nine out of ten patients are “very or extremely satisfied” with their Invisalign experience. How does it work?
Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to map the complete treatment from start to finish. From this plan, a series of custom-made aligners unique to your treatment is produced. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and gradually moves your teeth, before being replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved. How much does Invisalign cost?
There is no concrete answer for this. It really depends on the kind of treatment you need and how long it takes. The treatment is often more cost effective than traditional braces. In addition, if you have orthodontic services covered under your insurance, Invisalign is normally covered to the extent as conventional braces. Dr. Markowitz also offers affordable monthly payment plans. For further information on Invisalign and how it can change your life, log onto www.invisalgin.com now.
Extractions
This procedure can be done by Dr. Markowitz but he may, under certain circumstances, refer you to an oral surgeon. What is a tooth extraction?
It is the removal of a tooth. It is a safe and routine procedure that is no cause for worry. If an extraction is recommended by Dr. Markowitz's, rest assured he will explain why this is the best course of action for the health of your mouth. Why would I need an extraction?
What can I expect from an extraction?
We all know extractions sound scary, but modern dentistry and Dr. Markowitz's skill, have made the procedure routine, with minimal discomfort. Always be sure to tell Dr. Markowitz about any concerns you may have on the procedure. Extractions begin with numbing the area of the mouth around the tooth to be extracted. You may feel pressure, but there should be little or no pain at all. Should you have trouble getting numb, or have a dental fear that makes you uncomfortable, share that with Dr. Markowitz ahead of the procedure. He may be able to perform the extraction under sedation dentistry to keep you relaxed and comfortable throughout the appointment. Once you get comfortable, the procedure itself is usually very quick. Afterward, a dental assistant will give you or your chaperon, instructions on keeping the area clean and helping the area to heal properly. It is very important to carefully follow these instructions to prevent infection or other complications. Dr. Markowitz will also discuss with you the benefits of tooth replacement if need be.What are the alternatives to having an extraction?
It really depends on your particular situation. Depending on your particular situation, it may be possible to repair a damaged tooth with a crown and/or root canal instead of an extraction. It may be that taking the tooth out is the least expensive option, Dr. Markowitz will most likely recommend replacing the extracted tooth. The gap that’s left after an extraction can cause problems for the surrounding teeth and affect your bite. Dr. Markowitz will always explain to you all your options and why extraction is or is not recommended. Always feel free to ask him any questions you may have.Root Canal
This procedure can be done by Dr. Markowitz but he may, under certain circumstances, refer you to an oral surgeon. Why would I need a root canal?
It is necessary when the pulp becomes infected or inflamed. The inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedure on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. In addition, an injury to a tooth may cause pulp damage even if the tooth has no visible chips or cracks. If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess. What are the signs of needing a root canal?
Signs to look for include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat, tenderness to touch and chewing, discoloration of the tooth, and swelling, drainage and tenderness in the lymph nodes as well as nearby bone and gingival tissues. However, sometimes there are no symptoms at all. What does root canal treatment involve?
Treatment often involves one to three visits. During treatment, Dr. Markowitz will remove the diseased pulp (nerve). The pulp chamber and root canal(s) of the tooth are then cleaned and sealed. Here are the steps: 1. First an opening is made through the crown (the part of the tooth that you can visibly see) of the tooth. 2. An opening is made through the crown of the tooth into the pulp chamber. 3. The pulp is then removed. The root canal(s) is cleaned, enlarged and shaped to a form that can be filled. 4. Medications may be put in the pulp chamber and root canal(s) to help get rid of germs and prevent infection. 5. A temporary filling may be placed in the crown opening to protect the tooth between dental visits. Dr. Markowitz might leave the tooth open for a few days to drain. You might also be given antibiotics to help control infection that may have spread beyond the tooth. 6. The temporary filling is removed and the pulp chamber and root canal(s) are cleaned and filled. 7. In the final step, a porcelain crown (or cap) is usually placed over the tooth. If Dr. Markowitz referred you out to an endodontic specialist, this would be the step where you would return to Dr. Markowitz. 8. The crown of the tooth is then restored.
